New Findings in the First Emperor's Mausoleum Complex
Fascinating artifacts continue discovering around the First Emperor's mausoleum complex which mean to accompany the ruler in his death and perpetuate his earthly reign.
In 1998, nearly 80 stone armor suits and 40 stone helmets unearthed in a nearby burial pit. They are believed to be funeral objects for the First Emperor rather for practical use.

In 1999, archaeologists found a new pit with 11 pottery figurines. With vivid expressions, they are in different gesture. Some appear tall and strong while the others short and slim. People believe they are acrobats serving in the imperial palace.

Latter in 2000, archeologists revealed a new burial pit where 12 warriors were unearthed. They all wear uniform with long, loose sleeves with no weapons. They are estimated to be servants of the emperor.

In the same year, bronze cranes, geese and swans, 31 in total together with several pottery figures were uncovered in a new separate burial pit just outside the mausoleum. These made archaeologists realise that the emperor wanted his entire court with him in the afterlife.
