Backpackers' Guide 1: How to get to Qin's Mausoleum and Terracotta Warrior Museum?

Terracotta Warrior Army Museum and the Qin mausoleum are opened to the public.

Shuttle Bus Service

They offer shuttle bus service to Qin's Mausoleum and Terracotta Warrior Museum about every 10 minutes between 7:00 am and 6:00pm. It takes about one hour by Bus 306, Bus 914 or Bus 915, which are all leave from the eastern side of the Xian Railway Station Square-face the big clock over the Railway Station, to your right hand side.

Just get on the one with most passengers-normally it leaves once after all seats are full. The ticket is Seven Yuan (Around One Dollar) both for the museum and the mausoleum. The bus will drive directly along highway/expressway to Lintong Region, where most of the locals get off in a few stops. Don't be panic; your destination is Qin's Mausoleum or Terracotta Warrior Museum, the last two stops.

Suggested Travel Route

Most tourists don't visit the Qin mausoleum for two main reasons. One is the Qin mausoleum has never been excavated for the preservation concern and therefore not so much to present. The other reason is for the very tight schedule filled with unexpected stops at souvenir shops and factories.

As a bag packer, you are more flexible. If you have limited time and just want to go straight to the terracotta warrior figures, take the shuttle bus and directly head to the last stop- a large car park outside Terracotta Warrior Museum.

For those who want to visit the Qin mausoleum, we suggest to go to the mausoleum first. This will make it easier when you are back to Xian. Take the shuttle bus and get off at the gate of the mausoleum. After you come out, just wait where you get off. The bus will take you to the last stop, Terracotta Warrior Museum. The journey is 1.5 km (nearly one mile) to the east. The ticket is only one Yuan (about 20 cents)
