Witness to China's Qin Terracotta Warrior Army>>Pit No.3, the Underground Command Center Guarded by Pottery Soldiers

Pit No.3, the Underground Command Center Guarded by Pottery Soldiers

Pit No. 3 suggests to be the command center of the entire terracotta warrior army by the layout. It is the smallest with only 66 pottery soldiers and one wooden chariot drawn by four terracotta horses. Rather than arranged in a battle formation, the pottery soldiers stand opposite to each other in two rows. Only one kind of weapon was found, which had no blades and was probably used by the Qin guards of honor. The Pit was opened to the public on September 27, 1989.

Unearthed also in this pit were a remaining deer-horn and animal bones. This is probably the place where sacrificial offerings and war prayers were practiced.
