    Qin Shihuang, as the powerful man claimed himslf when he came to the throne of the country in 221 B.C. is the title, not his name. In fact his name is Ying Zheng with Ying as his surname and Zheng slightly sounds like jarn as his given name.
  • The word Qin pronounced Chin, from which China may get its name. Qin is the name of his kingdom as well as the latter dynasty/empire, Shi sounds very much like shay, means first, initial and Huang pronounced as hwang, meaning divine ruler/emperor.
  • The title may literarily translated as the First Emperor of Qin or the First August Emperor of Qin.
